A fresh way to take the salt out of seawater

Sounds too good to be true. But if it is, it can change the world as we know it.

Deserts can bloom, and the world can have all the fresh water it needs, where it is needed.

An article in The Economist ( outlines a new technology simpler, cheaper, and much less energy-gobbling than reverse osmosis, the pre-dominant desalination technology currently in use.
